Although Elena has a lot of redeeming qualities, there is a reason that she was invited to compete for The Dowry.  The game only invites people who live or commit questionable acts that dance on the ‘fringes of the law’.

Will the other eight contestants be willing to accept the invitation? All of the contestants who are invited to the games,  almost always attend.  At first, some contestant may think that they were invited mistakenly, but the second invitation makes it clear that The Gilded Ridge knows exactly who you are.
